Operations, so the work runs the same way every time

How a job moves through your business, who owns each step, what gets checked and where the time disappears. Most owners are not short of effort. They are short of a process that holds when they are not watching.

A business without a process is a business that only works when you are in it

Every job getting done differently is fine at three customers a week. At thirty it produces rework, missed steps and a quality that moves with whoever picked the job up. The fix is rarely software.

  • We follow a real job, not a diagram. Start to finish, with the delays, the chasing and the double handling marked where they actually happen.
  • The steps get written down. In plain language, short enough that somebody would genuinely use it. A process nobody reads is decoration.
  • Somebody owns each step. Most operational failures are not laziness. They are two people each assuming the other had it.
  • Tools come last. We work out what the process should be before deciding whether anything needs to be bought. Software on top of a broken process is an expensive way to move the mess.
Important. MC Global Consulting Group LLC is a business consulting firm. We are not a law firm, an accounting firm, a financial adviser or a lender, and nothing on this website is legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. Every business is different, and results depend on decisions and market conditions outside our control, so no specific outcome is guaranteed.
What we do

What this work involves

Process mapping

One job followed end to end, with every handover, delay and rework loop written down as it really is.

Roles and handovers

Who owns what, what gets checked and what happens when the person who normally does it is away.

Capacity and scheduling

What the business can genuinely carry in a week, so you stop promising a delivery date the calendar cannot support.

Quality and consistency

The few checks that catch the errors that cost you customers, without burying the team in paperwork.

Questions

Business operations questions

How long does an operations review take?

The review itself is usually a small number of sessions plus time spent watching how work actually flows. Putting the changes in takes longer, and depends on how much of it lands on you rather than on a team.

Do I need new software?

Often not. We work out what the process should be first. Plenty of businesses get further from a shared checklist and clear ownership than from a new system nobody fills in.

My team is small. Is this still relevant?

Especially then. In a small team the process usually lives in one person, which makes the business fragile in a way that is easy to miss until they take a holiday.

What if the problem turns out to be something else?

Then we say so. Operations problems and pricing problems look identical from the inside, and fixing the wrong one is expensive.
